Comparison and empirical analysis of the urban economic development level in the Yangtze River urban agglomeration based on an analogical ecosystem perspective

By adopting an analogical ecosystem perspective and by pursuing coexistence and coprosperity of the overall spatial development of urban agglomerations can avoid disorder and vicious competition that occur among cities. However, this perspective has not been applied to the research on the Yangtze River urban agglomeration. Thus, this paper attempts to construct a more comprehensive and scientific index system for the competitiveness of Yangtze River urban agglomeration from the perspective of an ecosystem-based socio-economic system structure and analyzes the current economic development situation of the eight cities along the Yangtze River. Based on this objective, principal component analysis (PCA) method is used to comprehensively evaluate the economic development level of the eight cities. Simultaneously, the concept of the urban niche is used to derive the niche levels and dominant ecological functions of each city and to promote the optimization of the spatial structure of the Yangtze River urban agglomeration. Accordingly, this paper also explores the spatial optimization path of the Yangtze River urban agglomeration under the guidance of the analogical ecosystem concept, to provide theoretical reference for the optimization of spatial structure and strategic planning of Yangtze River urban agglomeration.
