Analyzing the optical performance of liquid crystal displays in random vibration environment

Abstract

The paper proposes an analysis method to predict the optical performance of an LCD in random vibration environment. The dynamic response analysis is firstly conducted and then inverse discrete Fourier transform converts the response signal from frequency domain to time domain. Based on the visual staying phenomenon, the displacements of two points on CF/TFT substrates are taken out every 1/47 s to get LC thickness changes for further analysis on optical transmittance. Some practical vibration tests were performed and the coincidence between the practical and the simulation results indicates the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed method.
