A Novel Co-Planar Five Input Majority Gate Design in Quantum-Dot Cellular Automata

Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) design forms a cellular alternative to the conventional CMOS design approach. In the present paper, a novel design of five input majority gate is proposed. The proposed design enjoys the features of no rotated cells, single-layer structure and robust design. A comparative analysis of the majority gate designs reported by various researchers in the literature is also carried out. The present design exhibits a 7.69% decrease in the number of cells with an efficiency similar to the best equivalent designs reported in the literature. A full adder and an XOR gate with a cell reduction of 3.57% and 3.12%, respectively, are proposed. QCADesigner-E tool is utilized for the simulation and validation of the functionality of the suggested designs.
