Flow separation control in an axial compressor cascade using various arrangement of plasma actuator

The present work is concerned with the control of separation which occurs on an axial compressor cascade by plasma actuator (PA). The results show that PA reduces energy losses. Also, a lift-to-drag ratio enhancement up to 18% can be obtained using PA at 15% of the blade chord length. The flow control obtained by PA at low Reynolds numbers and low angle of attack is more effective on the performance of the compressor. Also, two and three pairs of electrodes are applied and the results show using three pairs of electrodes can enhance the performance up to 40%.
