EFG method in numerical analysis of foam materials

This paper presents the results of our research regarding the use of a meshless method, namely element-free Galerkin method, in solving an impact problem between a rigid body and a foam plate. Next, the paper gives two answers to two usual questions appearing when modeling foam materials. These questions refer to the choice of a material model and to the extension of the stress–strain curve of the foam material. Solutions start from some experimental data of a foam material and continue by numerical simulations using Ls-Dyna software. The results are very interesting and especially useful in numerical modeling of the foam material. The results are presented in a comparative way, graphically and in tabular form.
