Time-Domain Reflection of Pulse Plane Wave From Multilayered Lossy Medium

In order to analyze the time-domain characteristics of multilayered lossy medium, a novel theoretical solution for calculating the transient reflected wave from the multilayered lossy medium is presented. We obtain the formulas of the time-domain interfacial reflected coefficient of the interface that separates two lossy media for the transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes according to the time-domain propagating mode method. The cases of three-layered lossy medium are illustrated to verify the accuracy and validity of the proposed method. Numerical results confirm that the proposed method is quick and valid to deal with the transient reflected wave from a multilayered lossy medium.
