Dear new members of the Editorial Board of IJMPR,

It is a great pleasure for me to announce the new Editorial Board of IJMPR for 2021.

IJMPR feels honoured and happy to announce, that Daniel S. Pine (MD), who is Chief of the Section on Development and Affective Neuroscience in the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Intramural Research Program, has agreed to follow Katja Beesdo‐Baum as the new Associate Editor of IJMPR for the period 2021‐2026. With his acceptance we welcome an outstanding scientist and a key leader in many fields from methodology to therapeutics. Since medical school, Dr. Pine has been engaged in research focusing on the epidemiology, biology, and treatment of paediatric mental illnesses. His expertise is reflected in more than 600 peer‐reviewed papers. His main areas of expertise include biological and pharmacological aspects of mood, anxiety, and behavioural disorders in children, as well as classification of psychopathology across the lifespan. Together with the Wiley team and Dr. Freya Thiel as Assistant, we look forward to making IJMPR the leading peer review journal in psychiatric methodology. Dr. Pine will be mainly responsible for submissions from the Americas and Australia, Dr. Wittchen for Europe, Africa and Asia.

We also sadly announce, that my friend and colleague Katja Beesdo‐Baum has decided to move on to new responsibilities and step down as Associate Editor after many years of highly competent, reliable and inspired work. On behalf of Wiley, I want to thank her for the many years of hard work and the incredible reliability in which she has managed countless critical submissions. This is undoubtedly a great loss to the Journal, only compensated by the fact that she will remain on the Editorial Board to continue providing her most valuable input.

We also welcome a number of outstanding scientists as new additional members on the Editorial Board who are committed to improve and sharpen the future profile of IJMPR in many ways.

The IJMPR profile will be strengthened particularly on statistical, methodological, and design issues by the expertise of Philipp Batterham (PhD), Australian National University, Acton, Australia; Stefan Goerigk (PhD), Ludwig‐Maximilians University, Munich, Germany; Femke Lamers (PhD), University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; Shannon Lange (PhD), University of Toronto, Canada; Zeina Mnemneh (PhD), ISI University of Michigan, USA; and Oleguer Plana‐Ripoll (PhD) from the NCRR Aarhus, Denmark.

The key areas of expertise are for Jim van Os (PhD) from the UMC Maastricht, The Netherlands, clinical and epidemiological research on risk factors and vulnerabilities; for Reinout Wiers (PhD), University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, psychology and risk factor research; and for Adi (Ardesheer) Talati’s (PhD), Columbia University, USA the fields of neurobiology, translational research and epidemiology. Jaana Suvisaari (PhD), Finnish Institute of Mental Health, Finland is specialist in psychotic disorders, aetiology, pathophysiology, detection and outcome research.

Katharina Kircanski (PhD), NIMH, USA is a Staff Scientist in the Section on Severe Mood Disorders at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Intramural Research Program (IRP) and Melissa A. Brotman (PhD) is the Assistant Clinical Investigator of the Neuroscience and Novel Therapeutics Unit (NNT) at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Intramural Research Program (IRP). Both specialize in multi‐method affective neuroscience techniques (e.g., fMRI, behavioural paradigms, ESM) and mechanisms of psychopathology to guide the development of novel targeted interventions.

We hope that these new members of the IJMPR Editorial Board will outline their profiles further in a dedicated mission paper in the near future.

Last but not least we would also like to express our gratitude to all departing and past members of the IJMPR Editorial Board who have so relentlessly supported and promoted the success of our Journal. We will miss the contributions, hard work and critical input to IJMPR that they provided over the past decade.

Yours sincerely,

Hans‐Ulrich Wittchen
