Microstructural Investigations and Numerical Simulations of Polycrystalline Nickel

Abstract

In this paper, the interaction between the microstructure and the texture evolution and the flow behavior of polycrystalline Nickel 200 is studied. Particularly, the effect of the initial orientation and the texture evolution during the uniaxial compressive deformation process is examined. From the experimental investigations, an attempt is made to model the flow behavior of the polycrystalline Nickel 200. For the finite element simulations, idealized random grains are generated by Voronoi tessellations to simulate the polycrystalline Nickel 200. A crystal plasticity based material model for polycrystalline Nickel 200 undergoing finite deformations is presented. The simulated deformation behavior is compared with and validated by experimental data.
