ABSTRACT

Driven by the increasing number of homeless youth and young adults in Central Virginia and a lack of resources for this population, a Community Service Board (CSB) formed Cooperative Agreements to Benefit Homeless Individuals (CABHI), a multi-disciplinary program to address these problems, which included mental health and substance use, housing, and employment. The purpose of this article is to present a case study of the development and accomplishmentsand to relate the development and accomplishments of CABHI to the literature on youth and young adult homelessness, which may provide generalized lessons that other agencies may consider when addressing youth homelessness.
