Kinetics of Sequential Protopectin Degradation in a Flowing Reaction Solution

The degradation mechanism of protopectin was studied using beet pulp, pomelo albedo, and sunflower calathides as examples. Experimental data were processed according to sequential irreversible reactions (PP → MG → PS) occurring in a flowing reaction solution. This approach enabled evaluation of the main kinetic parameters of the reduced equation and calculation of the reaction rate constant and activation energy of secondary phytomass protopectin degradation. The results made it possible to regulate the production of pectinic polysaccharides with given physicochemical parameters.
