Abstract
The resistivity method is widely used in shallow surface geophysics. Capacitive resistivity is one of techniques that extend the use of the resistivity method for an environment where galvanic coupling of electrodes is difficult, for instance, frozen ground, hard rocks, and engineered structures (roads, railways etc.). This technique allows rapid field work without galvanic coupling electrodes. The main problem is the complicated calculation of forward resistivity for a simple model. The limitations on the use of the technique are not clear in the theoretical and practical aspects in the results. The authors determined the limits of the electrical properties and distances for capacity resistivity.
