Two-Element Keyboard Model of Generation of the Strongest Subduction Earthquakes

Abstract

A model for the generation of the strongest earthquakes in subduction regions under conditions of the block structure of the medium is considered. This model represents a significant development of the mathematical keyboard model by L.I. Lobkovsky related to consideration of the discontinuities of not only the frontal but also the rear parts of the island arc. It is shown that the introduction of an additional structural element into the initial model leads to a more accurate assessment of a number of characteristics of the seismic process, since the approach proposed allows taking into account a wider range of geodynamic processes occurring in subduction zones at different stages of the seismic cycle, with the possibility of direct comparison of the theoretical calculations to the satellite geodetic data.
