Abstract

The mechanical properties of NWA 12370 chondrite, petrological type H5, depending on the external hydrostatic pressure were studied using ultrasonic waves. This meteorite is a fragment of a rock shower from the debris of the inner part of a large asteroid, about 200 km in size. At an early stage of the Solar System, such planetesimals made a significant contribution to the development of terrestrial planets. Understanding the connection between the internal structure and elastic properties of chondrites is important both for assessing their contribution to the composition of the crust and upper mantle of the Moon and the Earth and for clarifying the mechanisms of formation of the metal core in terrestrial planets as a whole.
