At times, it is unclear whether the author is referring to German-speaking local inhabitants, or Germans from Germany. Still, Gruner demonstrates that the interaction between local, regional, and central initiatives radicalized Jewish policy, and that both locals and German authorities implemented Jewish policy. As Gruner points out in the conclusion, this book opens new avenues for further research into the role of local Czech-speaking authorities as well as the motivations of those responsible for Jewish persecution.
