It would also be worthwhile to explore the implicit knowledge of God carried within the sensus fidelium and how this relates to the ministers of divine pedagogy. Bringing his insights into the nature of divine pedagogy into dialogue with insights about teaching more generally would be another interesting line of enquiry. Nevertheless, this book succeeds admirably in enabling readers to benefit from a broad historical perspective, one which brings out a remarkable harmony among commentators on 1 Corinthians 1–4. Harris also gives a boost to ecumenical learning and he stimulates a healthy and necessary re-thinking of their role by theologians.
