We are delighted and honored to take on the role as editors of Design and Culture, now in its eleventh year. As new stewards of the journal, we aim to support rigorous scholarship in the field while also nurturing new and overlooked lines of inquiry that might reconfigure and deepen our understanding of design and designing. With these ambitions in mind, we thank the journal’s founder and outgoing editor, Elizabeth Guffey. As founding editor, Elizabeth encouraged readers and contributors to grapple with the ways in which design acts as a social, cultural, and material force. We also extend our gratitude to Maggie Taft, whose generous assistance as we transitioned into the editorial role was invaluable. We strive to continue their responsiveness and exactingness in our support of authors and the production of each issue. The journal, under Elizabeth’s and Maggie’s leadership, explored those debates and discourses that testify to the importance of design in contemporary culture. Design and Culture remains the official journal of the Design Studies Forum, and we inherit a journal now established as a vibrant platform from which we might explore the ramparts of design, building on the forum’s objectives and the former Barbara Adams is the Andrew W.
