A USA-Mongolian international team of archaeologists, aided by volunteers, used a random-sample intensive pedestrian survey strategy to develop an understanding of the types of archaeological sites, their distribution, and frequency within one Mongolian Protected Area: Ikh Nartiin Chuluu Nature Reserve. The data collected were used for developing a Cultural Heritage Management Plan for the Reserve. Within the small sample, 12 different site types were identified and 44 sites were recorded. Using the statistical sample, an approximate number of cultural heritage sites contained within Ikh Nart was determined, as well as their distribution between the northern and southern parts of the Reserve.
