Research suggests a need for ongoing teacher training, which necessarily involves helping teachers to make the most of the learning opportunities that teaching offers. The 2014 REF panel identified world-leading practice-focused research as those that drew on social scientific theory and method, and where learners, teachers, and researchers worked in close cooperation and collaboration. The implication of this for educational researchers is that educational researchers need to work in close collaboration with practitioners if research findings are to feed into practice.
