Pyroelectric and thermistor properties of gadolinium modified complex tungsten bronze ferroelectric ceramic

Abstract

The ceramic oxide K2Pb2Gd2W2Ti4Ta4O30 was synthesized by solid solution route. The formation of compound was checked by using XRD and SEM study, suggesting that material is single phase and dense. Temperature variation of dielectric parameters reveals ferroelectric to paraelectric phase transition. Polarization study confirms the presence of ferroelectricity. The transport property of the material was studied using impedance spectroscopy. The hopping motion of charge carrier was confirmed from the frequency dependent ac conductivity. The values of pyroelectric current and thermistor properties show that the material can be useful for heat sensing applications with a working temperature of about 300 °C.
