Secondary education experienced changes to the types of schools and teaching content as it adapted to modern socioeconomic development. All-female schools for girls’ education and military schools for the training of military officers also became important elements of secondary education in the era of the German Empire. University education experienced rapid growth in terms of the number of university students, accompanied by adjustments to the scale of different majors, the emergence of various categories of new-style universities, and changes to the social composition of university students. During the imperial era, as society adapted to fast-paced economic development, vocational education experienced rapid growth, and a wide variety of vocational schools appeared. Educational development provided the human resources necessary to ensure socioeconomic development, scientific and technological progress, and cultural prosperity during the imperial era.
