Abstract In previous volumes of this journal, the Society for California Archaeology (SCA) published a decadal history of the SCA’s first 50 years, followed by a similar look at the first 30 years of SCA’s relationship with Native Americans. The article below concludes the retrospective of the Society’s annals with a look at the last two decades (1997–2016) of its relationships with Native Americans. Emphasis is placed on policy decisions by the SCA Executive Board (EB), the EB response to various legislative events, and specific Society-wide decisions affecting relations with Native American groups, tribes, and individuals.
