A bibliometric assessment of global publication output on Buruli ulcer during 2000-2017

This study aims to analyze buruli ulcer literature by applying bibliometric tools. The data were collected from Scopus database to analyze growth, authorship pattern, publication type, language-wise distribution of papers, most productive authors and highly cited papers on buruli ulcer. The findings of the study indicated that research activities on buruli ulcer registered negative growth rate in the most number of years. About 86.62% papers were contributed by multiple authors which indicated collaborative research trend in the subject. Highest number of papers on buruli ulcer was published in PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases. Portaels F. from Institute of Tropical Medicine, Belgium grabbed first rank by contributing highest number of papers on buruli ulcer.
