This issue is published at a time of challenges and unrest across the country and the world. During the Spring of 2020 efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 impacted the lives of children, families and communities across the United States of America and the world. The magnitude of the pandemic is still unknown. Our interconnected lives are simultaneously impacted by economic blows, unemployment, food insecurity, and deaths. On the front lines of our cities are the health workers, first responders, and essential workers showing incredible bravery. Volunteers of every race and language demonstrate sympathy as hunger spreads among the diverse working families laid off from their jobs. Scientists world-wide work diligently to discover a vaccine to fight the coronavirus. However, the incredible hard work, kindness, and support has not prevented the loss of lives in the U.S. and its territories. The health crisis continues.
