Welcome to Time and Mind. In this issue we bring you a range of papers that reflect some of the breadth of this journal and the exciting work produced in the exploration of archaeology, culture and consciousness. As we are the new editors, this seems like an appropriate place to introduce ourselves. Jack Hunter is an anthropologist of religion and consciousness. He completed his undergraduate degree in Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Bristol in 2009, and a PhD in Social Anthropology from the same institution in 2018. His doctoral research took the form of an ethnographic study of contemporary trance mediumship practices in Bristol, focussing on themes of extraordinary experience, personhood and performance. He is a member of the Sophia Centre at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David where he is a tutor on the MA in Cultural Astronomy and Astrology, teaching modules on Sacred Geography and Researching Contemporary Cosmologies. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow of the Alister Hardy Religious Experience Research Centre, and a Research Fellow of the Parapsychology Foundation. His research interests accumulate at the intersections of archaeology, folklore, anthropology and parapsychology, especially in relation to landscape perception and extraordinary experience. His current research is investigating the role of spirituality and extraordinary experience in motivating efforts towards ecological activism, and of folklore and traditional ecological knowledge in conservation and regeneration. Tina Paphitis is an archaeologist, folklorist and heritage scholar. She is currently a Teaching Fellow in Heritage and Museum Studies at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London and Assistant Librarian of the Folklore Society. Her broader interests are in the folklore of the Nordic region and Britain, particularly in legends, landscapes, food-ways and representation. Her doctoral research (UCL 2014) explored the medieval to contemporary folklore of archaeological landscapes in Britain, examining how such folklore, archaeology and landscapes have been critical to local and national identity politics, and to heritage construction, through time. Tina’s research aims to re-situate folklore studies within critical heritage discourses, considering how historic and contemporary folklore can be explored as a form of experiential archaeological representation and as a way of addressing global challenges. She has undertaken research on barrows and their folklore in horror and fantasy literature, William Morris’s legend-trips to Iceland, and the reception and representation of the Nordic past in Britain. Her current research explores Nordic food and food-ways, particularly their TIME AND MIND 2020, VOL. 13, NO. 1, 1–3 https://doi.org/10.1080/1751696X.2020.1721180

1, 1–3 https://doi.org/10.1080/1751696X.2020.1721180
