Turkish psychedelia with a parallel narration about the global music scene. The similarities to, influences from, and, sometimes, mimicries of global hit songs are elaborately pointed out, which makes it stand out as a detailed comparison between Turkish and global psychedelia. Despite all the strong points of the book, some of the English translations of the Turkish song titles should be reviewed for the following editions. Considering the hard work, it was upsetting to see that some of the song names were mistranslated into English, leading to unintended semantic changes. Nevertheless, The Turkish Psychedelic Music Explosion: Anadolu Psych 1965–1980, holds up a light on “a forgotten entry in the annals of global counterculture, a rich social history just out of reach” (8) and serves as an enlightening resource for further studies.
