The recent history boom in many societies is observed also among German film makers. UFA Fiction Film, established after the unification of several small companies, plays the key role concentrating on most recent German history, above all the Second World War and lives of ordinary people in the Third Reich. This contributes to the resurgence of victim narratives that have been reappearing at least since 1995. But UFA has also recently been offering films that depict Germans as Cold War victims, e.g. Die Frau vom Checkpoint Charlie, Deutschland 83 and Der gleiche Himmel.
