One of the fundamental strengths of the Journal of Energy & Natural Resources Law is its long-standing relationship with a group of the world’s finest energy and natural resources experts. This group, known as the Academic Advisory Group (AAG), is sponsored by the IBA’s Section on Energy, Environment, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure Law (SEERIL). The AAG, which every two years publishes a book about new trends in energy law and policy, advises the Journal’s editor about articles and commentaries as well as the Journal’s general direction. Late last year, the AAG lost one of its longest-serving and most highly experienced members, Associate Professor of Energy Law Anita Rønne, who died on 13 December. The Journal has benefited over its 37 years from the advice of many AAG members, but perhaps no one has been more instrumental in the publication’s development and success than Professor Rønne. First joining the AAG in 1988, Associate Professor Rønne, who was a member of the University of Copenhagen Faculty of Law from 1984 onwards, was an ongoing supporter of and contributor to the Journal. During her three decades on the AAG, she contributed ten articles to the Journal and wrote innumerable legal updates. From 2004 to 2008, she chaired the AAG. In addition to her service to the AAG and the Journal, Professor Rønne was a key member of the trans-European team that edited and wrote Energy Law in Europe, the third edition of which has been referred to as ‘an excellent and comprehensive contribution on EU energy law, reflecting its complex nature convincingly, but presenting it concisely’. Professor Rønne was also involved in the establishment and implementation of the North Sea Energy Law Programme, which granted Master’s in Law degrees and involved the universities of Aberdeen (United Kingdom), Copenhagen (Denmark), Groningen (the Netherlands) and Oslo (Norway). Associate Professor Rønne was appointed by the Danish Energy Minister as a member of the Danish Energy Regulatory Authority. She also held the position of
