Emeritus editor’s introduction: In August 2017, as I was reviving the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Mental Health’s Oral History Project, I naturally reached out to Terry Stein, MD. Terry was a major figure in that history, both in the American Psychiatric Association where he served on and chaired APA’s Committee and on Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Issues. He also played major roles in this journal’s parent organization, AGLP, where he served first as Secretary and later as President. Further, for twenty years, Terry served on this journal’s Editorial Board, first as Associate Editor in its early years when it was called the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Psychotherapy and then later as an editorial board member during my tenure as editor. After I reached out to him, Terry immediately responded to say he was interested in participating. However, I received the following sad news from Terry on October 8, 2017:
