Establishing the relationship between elements of alternative network-based representations of a system is an important component of conflation, error/uncertainty assessment, change detection, and other geospatial analyses. An array of techniques have been proposed in support of such tasks to relate arcs and nodes in one network with those in another based upon establishing linkages among their attributes, geometry, topology, and other characteristics. As assessment of movements through a network is a component of many network analysis methods it is also critical to understand the extent to which movements supported by one network-based representation of a system (i.e., paths) may have counterparts in others. To this end, this article details a framework for relating paths in alternative geographically referenced network representations of a system to one another. The results yielded by application of this methodology provide valuable insight as to how paths supporting movement in one network translate to another network. Knowledge of this geographic and functional alignment among networks is essential for understanding potential implications on modeling movement given different representations of a system.
