Numerical simulation of gas explosion suppression by ultrasonic water mist based on the Cloud, Fog, and Edge Computing

With the introduction of the concepts of “Internet Plus”, “Industry 4.0” and “Made in China 2025”, the development of the Internet and industry has begun to influence each other, and the development of the Internet industry has more and more significant effects on industry progress. The coal mine gas explosion accident in China has seriously threatened the life safety of miners, not only restricting the development of mine production, but also bringing a heavy burden to coal enterprises. Therefore, monitoring the concentration of CH4 and finding suppression materials are of great significance for preventing disasters. This paper is based on the Cloud, Fog, and Edge Computing to monitor the CH4 concentration that can cause gas explosions and uses a self-designed experimental device to verify the suppression effect of water mist on gas explosion.

In order to study the effect of water mist suppressing gas explosion based the Cloud, Fog, and Edge Computing, according to the characteristics of the Cloud, the Fog and the Edge, the team designed a gas monitoring system based on the Cloud, Fog, and Edge Computing and a gas explosion suppression system by water mist. And the team carried out experiment research on the suppression of gas explosion by water mist, and combined the three basic conservation equations of fluid mechanics, the Turbulent Equation, Second Order Upwind, Gauss–Seidel Algorithm, etc., to perform numerical simulation in Fluent software. The study found that the numerical simulation of the gas explosion in a closed container is basically consistent with the maximum explosion pressure found in the experiment results. After analyzing the explosion pressure and the temperature change curve of the numerical simulation results, it is found that the temperature and pressure curves show a downward trend after adding ultrafine water mist.
