African Studies Review, Volume 62, Number 3 (September 2019), pp. 164–173 Uli Beisel is Assistant Professor of Culture and Technology in Africa at University of Bayreuth, Germany. Her research is concerned with the relations between infectious diseases, technology, ecology and society. She has worked extensively on malaria and multispecies coexistence; recent articles have been published in Geoforum, Medical Anthropology, and Science as Culture. Currently Beisel is involved in a project on Trust in Biomedicine after the Ebola Epidemic, together with co-investigators in Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Ghana. Ganle is committed to the use of qualitative research methodologies to understanding dynamics of healthcare utilization in differing contexts. Recent publications appeared in Oxford Development Studies, PLOS One, Social Science & Medicine, World Development.
