Similarities and differences in the mechanisms alkyne and isonitrile transformations catalyzed by silver ions and nanoparticles

The review contains an analysis of the literature data in the field of mechanisms of catalytic organic reactions, including an Ag+ ion or a silver nanoparticle and a compound containing triple Ctriple bondC and Ntriple bondC bonds. For organic compounds containing an alkyne cc moiety, the intermediate states for both types of catalysts are similar. In the case of isonitriles, only Ag+ compounds have a catalytic effect. Apparently, the stability constants of isonitrile π-complexes with the participation of formal zero-valent silver do not allow the transformation of organic compounds to be carried out at the required rate.
