Based on Raul Hilberg’s work, Holocaust research traditionally divides the members of societies affected by the genocide into three categories: victims, perpetrators, and bystanders, the last of which was the least studied until the ‘bystander boom’ at the turn of the millennium. The present volume of 16 ground-breaking studies published in 2019 by editors Christina Morina and Krijn Thijs is a contribution to this new research trend.
