Equalization and CFO compensation for SISO-OFDM communication systems with chaotic interleaving

ABSTRACT

The conventional Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) can be simply implemented using Inverse Discrete Fourier Transform (IDFT), and DFT instead of bank of modulator and bank of demodulator, respectively. However, the OFDM can be modified using chaotic interleaving that reduces the 1-Dimension (1-D), and 2-Dimension (2-D) burst errors, and improve the Bit-Error-Rate (BER) performance. In fact, the OFDM system suffers from high sensitivity to Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO). This paper presents a Joint Low-Complexity Regularised Zero Forcing (JLCRZF) equaliser for OFDM system based chaotic interleaving. The proposed JLCRZF jointly performs the equalisation and CFO compensation processes using banded-matrix approximation concept. Simulation results show that the proposed JLCRZF equaliser acts well especially in case of estimation errors.
