The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of cultivation locality on the antioxidant compounds and the antioxidant capacity concerning two Moroccan prickly pear cultivars. Various extracts were prepared from two distinct cultivars by organic extraction using a Soxhlet for three plant parts (seeds, cladodes, and flowers). In this context, the potential of polyphenolic extracts from opuntia ficus indica and opuntia megacantha were evaluated to determine their antioxidant compounds and antioxidant activities. Quantitative analysis of the phenolic compounds shows that the extracts of the flowers had the highest content of phenolic and flavonoids (50.01 ± 0.02 mg equivalent of Gallic Acid per gram of dry mass and 13.33 ± 0.14 mg equivalent of quercetin per gram of dry mass). The antioxidant activity varied from (IC50: 0.201 ± 0.002) to (IC50: 0.96 ± 0.02 mg/ml) by DPPH assay, and (EC50: 2.40 ± 0.03 to 10.03 ± 0.08) by FRAP method.
