The model predicts an ambiguous and wealth-dependent impact of increasing resource incomes on education. The empirical approach uses geographical variations in exogenously increasing fish catches to show that higher fish catches increase the average education level by increasing the education level of wealthier households but reducing the education level of poorer households.
