Rethinking the Impact of HRD: New Year, New Opportunities
Human Resource Development Review ( IF 6.273 ) Pub Date : 2020-02-09 , DOI: 10.1177/1534484320903143

Personally, my favorite times of the year are the Christmas and New Year holidays. I delight in this time because it symbolizes the winding down of an old year and the start to a new season of new intentions and recharged energy. A new year is a time to hit the reset button—to let go of what has not worked well and look to a fresh start. That was my attitude behind the last 2019 issue of Human Resource Development Review (HRDR)—in which I invited all of us in the human resource development (HRD) community to engage in self-reflection on our past research efforts, and to get ready to tap into some nontraditional space and inter- or trans-disciplinary work going forward (Wang, 2019). This is because I firmly believe that doing so will not only advance the new vision of the Academy of HRD (AHRD), but will also help deepen the impact of HRD in both the worlds of research and practice. With such a belief, I am excited to present you this first issue of 2020, consisting of four purposefully selected articles that will challenge your current thinking and hopefully stretch your imagination for future research.
