An Application of Pay-for-Performance in a Human Services Setting

ABSTRACT Pay-for-performance systems have been found to be effective in many settings and are more aligned with behavioral principles than traditional pay schemes. Despite the potential benefits, pay-for-performance systems have not been widely studied in human services. The current applied paper details a pay-for-performance program in a consulting department consisting of behavior analysts. In addition to changes in net profit and employee performance, aspects of development as well as social validity measures are detailed.
