Attention to the language teacher’s mental processes, motivations, and emotional experiences while engaged in or reflecting on the act of teaching has long been wanting. Thus, the volume Language Teacher Psychology is timely, and addresses a crucial, yet underexplored, aspect of second language pedagogy. A compilation of conceptual pieces, literature reviews, and primary research, the text positions the language teacher squarely as the unit of analysis, presenting the reader with rich insights into the multifaceted experience of teaching, often from the teacher’s perspective. The volume is most appropriate for researchers in second language pedagogy, as well as graduate students who have a solid foundation in second language development and language teaching methods. The concrete research findings and more abstract reflections contained within, however, are certainly directly applicable to any classroom, and thus would be a welcome addition to the bookshelf of those who work with second language teachers.
