Synthesis of Quinoline‐4‐carboxamides and Quinoline‐4‐carboxylates via a Modified Pfitzinger Reaction of N‐Vinylisatins

Quinoline‐4‐carboxamides and 4‐carboxylates are a class of heteroaromatic compounds present in a large family of laboratory‐made molecules, with a wide range of important biological activities. Herein, a synthetic approach to its accelerated assembly is described, using a rearrangement of N‐vinylisatins, promoted by different types of amines (or ethanol) in a Pfitzinger‐like mechanism that, in turn, builds the quinoline ring system.
