Involvement of the Domestic Manganese Ores in Production

The dephosphorization of a manganese oxide concentrate with an increased phosphorus content is experimentally studied by blowing a manganese-containing melt with carbon monoxide in the temperature range 1400–1560°C. The reaction of gaseous carbon monoxide with phosphorus oxide dissolved in a manganese-containing melt begins to develop. The dephosphorization leads to a substantial decrease in the phosphorus content in a manganese-containing melt. A new method for the dephosphorization of manganese-containing products is developed. The method has no analogs and makes it possible to involve domestic manganese ores in production.
