Thermooxidative Coking of Poorly Clinkering Coal

The thermooxidative coking of a coal bed on a moving chain grate (a conveyer) is studied mathematically and experimentally, with a view to the coking of coal unsuited to traditional coke ovens. A model of the temperature field in the coking bed is developed and compared with existing models. The model is verified for a practical coking system. The best values of the basic system characteristics—such as the bed temperature and coking period—are obtained.
