For the first time, the family Synteliidae Lewis, 1882 is found from the mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber. A new species, Syntelia sunwukong Jiang & Wang sp. nov. is described here. The new species can be placed in the extant genus Syntelia Westwood, 1864 since it shares similar characters with extant species of this genus. The new discovery enriches our knowledge of Coleoptera species diversity of in the Cretaceous and the evolutionary history of the family Synteliidae.
