Simulation Studies on Radiological Parameters for Marble Concrete

Radiation shielding is a popular subject in physics due to its widely utilization in different fields in the paralel of technological development and thus recently many recearches have focused in this subject. Most of works were performed using simulation code as experimental studies are more difficult and required technical setup. The simulation works performed in this study to obtain radiation shielding properties of marble concretes at the gamma rays energies of 0.511, 0.835 and 1.275 MeV. The simulation were done using Phy-X/PSD code in order to obtain the linear attenuation coefficients (µ, cm−1). Some other radiological parameters such as mean free path (mfp), half value length (HVL), tenth value length (TVL), Effective atomic number (Zeff), electron density (Neff), Equivalent atomic number (Zeq), Exposure Buildup factor (EBF), fast neutron removal cross section (FNRC), and Zeq were also obtained.
