The traditional industrial synthesis of polycaprolactone monomers (caprolactone or 6‐hydroxyhexanoic acid) from cyclohexane is a multi‐step process associated with severe environmental issues such as toxic waste generation and high energy consumption. The implementation of a 4‐step enzymatic cascade in P. taiwanensis VLB120 allows the one‐pot conversion of cyclohexane to 6‐hydroxyhexanoic acid without byproducts and under environmentally benign conditions.
