Electrification is a remarkable trend in the aviation industry; electric machines and power electronics systems have been increasingly embedded in aerospace applications. In this field, the above systems are mainly used in the flight control system, propulsion power system, engine starting/generating system, environmental control system, braking system, and fuel and hydraulic system. The power density, operating efficiency, integration degree, and reliability are critical performance requirements, which contain complex mutual coupling and conflicting requirements that need to be carefully considered. Furthermore, the specific external environment and load characteristics of the aviation applications will unavoidably pose challenges for the design and control of the electric machines and power electronics systems. This special issue aims to collect advanced theoretical and technological research findings in the design and control for electric machines, power converters, drives, and systems in more electric aircraft (MEA). Manuscripts with both theoretical interpretation and practical verification are strongly encouraged. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
