Polycrystalline tungsten (W) and four kinds of tungsten alloys were exposed to pure and impurities seeding deuterium (D) plasma to investigate the deuterium retention behaviour. The results show that D retention in W increases with the increasing fluence and incident energy, and decreases with the increase of temperature. The doping of alloying element and compounds, such as Re, La2O3, and ZrC, suppress the D retention at lower fluence but has limited effect at fluence above 2.6 × 1025 D/m2, and D inventory in these W alloys is higher than in W at temperature of 800 K. Helium (He) and nitrogen (N) impurities seeding significantly reduce D retention in tungsten. And higher N content in plasma causes more obvious reduction of D inventory. But the argon (Ar) impurity seeding leads to the increase of D retention.
