Abstract

The first capture of unicorn crestfish Eumecichthys fiski off the coast of northwestern Africa in the Canary Upwelling zone is documented. This is also the first capture of this species in the eastern part of the Atlantic Ocean. A brief description of the species and data on its distribution in the waters of the World Ocean are given. A possible scheme of transoceanic drift along the system of currents from the northwestern Atlantic is proposed.
