This year is the 40th anniversary of the death of Ian Kevin Curtis (15 July 1956– 18 May 1980), the lead singer and lyricist of the post‐punk band “Joy Division.” Deborah Curtis, his widow, wrote his biography and revealed that he was suffering from epilepsy and depression.¹ In this paper, we discuss the possibility that he suffered from bipolar disorder.
