Detection of APEO in textiles by HPLC

Abstract

Different textiles pre-processing methods including Ultrasonic Extraction method and Soxhlet Extraction method were evaluated in this study. These two pre-processing methods were used for extraction the Alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEO) from textiles. The concentration of APEO in textiles was simultaneous determinationin by High-Performance Liquid Chromatography. The precision, recovery, and repeatability of these methods were discussed. The results exhibited that the good recovery range between 85.84% and 100.14% was obtained during the process of the Ultrasonic Extraction. This method was validated within the concentration range at all levels. The relative standard deviation (RSD) was less than 3% which were less enough for samples determinations of Alkylphenol Ethoxylates in textile. The Ultrasonic Extraction method to prepare samples is quicker, simpler, more stable, practical and creating smaller environmental hazards, in comparison with the Soxhlet Extraction method.
